Inner misery
We dilute inner misery
By seeking a victory
In the race of the worldly
To be seen as worthy
Misery is cold, unforgiving
A prison amid the free living
We return to it at night
All alone with our plight
We need not be miserable
Even if grief’s unmeasurable
By looking at the whole
We’re granted refuge in the soul
Where we find what’s lost
It lies beyond thought
Out of reach of misery’s hand
Where bliss can expand
