Wisdom's Light

If the candle could burn longer

Allowing its light to linger

Eyes would welcome the support

When wisdom is what we court

Time is made like wax

As it melts it leaves no tracks

Luck is transient, it won’t last

It cannot be recalled from the past

The light of wisdom when lit in this cup

Points us in one direction, always up

There’s much to be done by that light

The world grows, through new insight

Wind cannot put out the light

When the candle becomes like sunlight

The wisdom that waxes before time wanes

Becomes the light, that remains
