Lines of Separation
Lines of separation, they begin at the skin
Separate, and we cannot go within
Thought lines create further division
Greatly narrowing our vision
Lines of separation, none in air or space
They are unique to the human race
As divisions begin to multiply
Peace will in short supply
Lines of separation, they’re easy to create
Etched into our core, we no longer relate
The mind’s the pen, the ego is the ink
What’s written, drives what we think
Lines of separation, source of enmity
As each seeks to assert an identity
The heart has no preference for left or right
As it works tirelessly to keep us upright
