Fallacy of Tomorrow

We’ve bought the fallacy

Of tomorrow’s sheltering canopy

It will come, but in which form?

We pray with desire, it will conform

Tomorrow isn’t even a cloud

The rain it may bring makes us proud

When it is allowed in as a thought

Relations with the present is fraught

Tomorrow’s other half is the past

Which the mind has steadily amassed

One’s a projector, the other a screen

We forget the future cannot be seen

Tomorrow, who is the guarantor?

There is none, as we plan for the year

A moment gone is a lifetime lost

We realize when tomorrow is tossed
