Prayer
For the prayer every day
The old and dead we weigh
The scales are never balanced
When consistency is a challenge
We don’t need a voice to go along
When the prayer is lifelong
Full of silence and good deeds
And not cultivating new seeds
Prayer comes first, language next
What’s true doesn’t need a text
They are helpful as guides
If they don’t make us take sides
The prayer of the old and the new
Extoll virtues we must accrue
Being human is the first
For that, love will have to be nursed
