Cocoon
Our eyes open in a cocoon
From frozen space, it’s hewn
No wings can carry us out
From the rest, we’re shutout
Spun a long time ago
A web of air, the sun turns aglow
Making it the sky of the cocoon
It’s freedom, we assume
Hemmed in by the mind
And the sky that can’t be defined
There’s latitude in the cocoon
Life in numbers quickly balloon
When we arise from the slumber
We are no more lumber
Awareness flies out of the cocoon
And eyes close in a swoon
