Heaven

Heaven isn’t a place

With gilded stairs

It’s everywhere

Once we’re aware

Every thought stares

At imaginary stairs

To that throne

Seating the unknown

When we look away

From the mind’s play

We’re rescued by laughter

At obsession with the after

Here, everything stays

Nothing ever decays

This heaven we forgo

For, we claim to know
