As individual expressions

With powers of perception

We misuse the lantern

That helps us return

We use its dim light

To hoard, and ignite

Bundles of desires

Until we are tired

By the lantern’s light

Will we survive the night?

The anxious toil hard

For a different reward

Light that wisdom borrows

Destroys all our sorrows

The lantern will remain

It’s light, we sustain
