Consciousness
When the moment’s embraced
Consciousness becomes chaste
Pure joy, neither lower nor higher
With no memory or a desire
Body and mind, free to move
Consciousness won’t disapprove
It watches, silent and centered
Under it, everything’s sheltered
We are free to explore and travel
Farther we go, harder to unravel
The depths of consciousness
It’s of a mysterious provenance
At this moment, the door’s open
We remain in the past, frozen
Consciousness is not a shadow
Of yesterday or tomorrow
