Mind, Body and Spirit

The mind

A long life, gone in a flash

Why does time have to dash?

There is much to do here

The sky pretends, not to hear

These thoughts may arise

Right before the mind’s demise

It may leave, we’re still here

Free, the mind can’t interfere

Death need not be feared

It is how life is engineered

The mind is the seat of that fear

It knows too much, to disappear

Just like that, life can change

Time spent, to thoughtfully arrange

Never comes back, it’s lost forever

The mind fails in that measure

Eating up time, its main meal

It does so with enormous zeal

We’re left with tiny crumbs

Of those moments, what becomes?

Moments, they are swept away

Time does not ever delay

It is left to us to keep up and run

Ignoring the mind, that can outrun

Time to come, becomes the future

The mind’s most attractive feature

When we don’t listen to that thought

The mind pretends it’s distraught

__

It wants us wherever it goes

Holding us tight and close

Covering our eyes and ears

Swallowing up precious years

Its many enchanting alleyways

Distracts and disturbs our gaze

There is more, than just this

Thoughts, the mind will dismiss

If we tell the mind, just for a day

Leave us alone, we’re on holiday

The mind would panic and fear

Attached to us, it can’t disappear

The mind and us, isn’t forever

For a time we may be together

But we long to leave its ground

Guilt makes us stay, duty-bound

Through memories, mind has a hold

They are too precious to be sold

Remaining in our private collection

Quietly setting the future’s direction

Without wishing the mind’s demise

We can quietly and skillfully rise

To the greater heights, we’re capable

By making the will unshakeable

Once fully grown, we can return

The mind, we shouldn’t spurn

Happy we’re back, it submits

To what our awareness permits
