Conveniences

Conveniences pursued

Will cost us dear

We are time-bound

Travelers, who forget

Hardship’s temporary

We look for rewards

Momentary pleasures

Are hard to pass up

Unshakable yokes

That stretch us thin

Aren’t conveniences

But the mind’s ruse

To keep us sedate

Obeying its rules

We gladly stay

Raised in comfort

Of nearby thoughts

We fear the depths

Lack such conveniences
