Spiral Stairway
Secret codes running down a spiral stairway
Have built our houses, our highway
To another world, one without roads
Where thoughts cannot function as goads
Every night we leave the mind’s caged cell
Only to unconsciously slip into a dark well
Fascination has replaced gratitude
Making us desire and feud
A stairway is revealed and open
When we dry desire’s deep ocean
Before earth claims this house as its gift
And the mind is left without a way to create a rift
Science may have seen a once-secret spiral
But it is not the blueprint which is more primal
They are beyond the reach of our feet
As long as thoughts run between bitter and sweet
