Legacy
This ball has never dropped
Neither has its path been cropped
A marble won in a cloudy past
By design, humans were never asked
We are good, getting things undone
Nature’s no complainer, even if its end’s begun
Remorse, we refuse to own
Before us, no sins to atone
The future’s an embryo, already here
It’s limbs will carry others, after we disappear
Mountains, lakes, oceans live on
All in hibernation, since dawn
Their days are long, as we race towards twilight
Legacy of beauty, we scar by our blight
We can do better
If only our desires are taken as a fetter
