Reunion
There is a reunion happening somewhere
Through every moment we can be there
And melt into its waters, whether we’re sweet or bitter
When we become one, even darkness will glitter
This reunion has no defined anniversary
When it happens, it’s not cursory
We don’t return, with the same longing
When we’re welcomed into permanence and belonging
It’s not a reunion with an old thought
It’s sealed into the past before it can rot
Time aids our separation through forgetfulness
We struggle to hold on, with the rope of remembrance
A river sheds its name and power before the sea will take its water
It is the only way it can unite with depths that matter
We’re late for the reunion, someone’s waiting
It is existence, our delay allows it to continue creating
