Promises

Within the mind’s premises

Lie hopes and promises

Some are steep hills

Thoughts of fruition, thrills

We are greatly motivated

The mind has us captivated

With desire’s daily drills

We acquire needed skills

The promises, they’re many

Hopes fill us plenty

With them, the future’s set

The now, a passing threat

We’re patient with the mind

It pretends to be kind

Its promises, leave us hoping

But, it’s darkness we’re groping
