Winter
Winter arrives to test our optimism
The air will not warm to our criticism
If the waters of desire could forever freeze
The cold discomfort of anticipation will ease
There can be calmness and joy in winter
If the fear of loneliness can splinter
There is warmth in the family of thought
But we may get unlucky with an unfriendly lot
Winter makes trees fall asleep
But the mind refuses to ever sleep
We cannot walk alone in the snow
Without the mind starting to crow
In winter, Nature is in deep penance
While other seasons provide sustenance
Choosing to winter in suffering, we benumb inner peace
It’s time to find joy, every winter shortens our lease
