Inner Light
There is a light coursing through our veins
Comes freely and does not put us in chains
A darting intelligence, subtle and swift
From it springs an embodied gift
Tell us the reason, cry the earnest
Forsaking sleep and nightly rest
The inner eye is blind to that light
When it can see, it’s a blinding sight
The mind has usurped the reins
Tempting us with its lofty claims
Romancing us with a softer light
Making it hard to say its a sorry plight
The mind is temporary as lightning
Our dependence on it is frightening
The deeper light electrifies the inner skies
Signals the enlightened self to shed disguise
