Comparison & Compassion
The future’s imagined, through comparison
Today can be lived, when there is compassion
To see a future, ego turns inward
To live in compassion, the heart must turn outward
Comparison is the mind’s old trick
Add in envy, it makes us sick
The mind that was once in contentment
Becomes the carrier of resentment
Compassion opens many doors
For whatever ails our peace, it offers cures
The mind watches in amazement
To go along, it will need to be patient
A compassionate heart holds no comparison
A mind that compares can’t harbor compassion
Comparison takes us into the past, a backward step
When compassion’s present, we won’t have a misstep
