Greed

There’s much we take

From the world, it can’t slake

The mind’s thirst and greed

It’s unique to the human creed

Fear underpins our greed

There isn’t a lot we really need

When living to a ideal

With transcendent appeal

Greed is so unique

Pursued without fatigue

Why is there such lust?

In ourselves, we’ve lost trust

To the naked, Nature provides

And the heart guides

Greed is alien dust

Settling as the mind’s crust
