The bird hasn’t flown
Its nest has grown
Beyond bare essentials
Against nature’s conventions
The bird’s fattened
By all that’s happened
The mind’s nest is big
Growing from a single twig
The bird forgets it can fly
On wings it can rely
Instead, it sits and waits
In the world the mind creates
The bird has a destiny
It will get there eventually
There isn’t any need to wait
When it sheds the past’s weight
