Memories
Memories, they can’t speak
Yet we hear, loud and clear
Brightening the depths
With their copious strands
Each a shimmering ray
Of evaporating time
They cast our future
On a road that’s familiar
Making us comfortable
Resting on breaths past
Witness to all there is
As we lay fresh sod
To cover dry heaps
Of memories, strings
That hold us behind
Life, it’s at this moment
But we keep looking back
At the silent unfurling
Of distant memories
