Eyes

Eyes reach where the feet cannot

Taking with them, power of thought

Thoughts may come and go

But desires they never stop to sow

The universe comes within sight

When eyes allow in its light

But eyes cannot turn in

To see what’s under the mind’s skin

Eyes are powerless in the dark

But awareness is never off the mark

It does not need the help of eyes

Our deepest lies, it silently spies

Eyes see the world as a wondrous gift

But the mind uses them to create a rift

When the mind prefers the ego’s light

Eyes retire, it is the mind’s night
