Mind Tree
Without roots to hold onto, we fall prey
A fleeting taste of life, we are swept away
Evanescence becomes the taproot
Turning us into trees wanting to eat their fruit
There’s water within, free-flowing like desire
Trapping freedom in that mire
Keeping us rooted in a world of strife
Firm as a tree, the mind becomes elixir of life
Like trees, inner sheen outlives the good and wicked
Holding no secrets that can be transmitted
Mind and tree share in common
The desire to fully blossom
Unless witnesses, we will never know
How to stand as a tree, and weather a blow
Not be swayed by the caress of a scripted word
By whose flattery notes, the mind is stirred
