Starry-eyed
Millions, living it up in the open
Those golden pixels the starry-eyed soak in
Blanketed by the naked truth, it is denied
Chased by the sun emerging from its hide
The earth has a silver spoon
Its silky light makes lovers swoon
It isn’t the only moon
Neither is the harbinger of gloom
Space squanders much light
On us, blind to the inner height
Jewels of the sky, sun, moon and stars
We won’t be there to read their memoirs
Thankfully we aren’t hopelessly lost
The inner sun isn’t faithful to the misty frost
When it turns on the starry-eyed
Bitter tears remain long after they have cried
